2017 La Petite Mort The Monte (Montepulciano) is by far the biggest red in our stable. The Monte grape which hails from central Italy typically makes a plush, well rounded wine with dense fruit and firm velvety tannin... and ours is no exception!

Our winemaking is relatively conventional for this drop since the real experiment is in the vineyard itself. Not only is this patch of Monte the first planting of its kind in the region (as far as we know), the 2016 is the first crop that the vines have produced.

So this wine is all about seeing what Monte is capable of in the region - and if this first edition is anything to go by, it has a bright future!!

Unusual, confronting and a little left of the middle.

La Petite Mort (LPM) is the home of our 'other' wines. These small batch, experimental wines are produced with minimal wine making intervention and put into bottle without filtering or fining to allow the raw essence of our experimentation to shine through. Rustic and characterful, LPM wines promise a unique sensory experience and a story behind every label.
